Jaago Re! One Billion Votes

The largest democracy in the world, India, held general elections to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009. Voting across the country was held from April 16 to May 13, with the results announced on May 16. Saltmarch and Great Indian Developer Summit, supported the Jaago Re! campaign encouraging voters to exercise their franchise. The GIDS .Web conference 2009, happened on 23rd April. And voting in 17 constituencies in Bangalore also happened on April 23. Therefore, in order to encourage voting, the GIDS Program Chair scheduled the day's program to begin at 10:00 am, to allow registered voters time to go to the polling booths to cast their votes. The Jaago Re! campaign is a joint venture of Janaagraha, an NGO working for social, civic and democratic reform activities in India, and Tata Tea.

Dream a Dream's Leadership Workshop

Dream a Dream is not-for-profit trust works with over 750 children from vulnerable backgrounds to build important life skills. Saltmarch supported ITIHAS, a non-profit consulting and service organization, to raise funds for Dream a Dream's Leadership Workshop conducted by Dr.Vivek Mansingh, Country Manager, Dell India R&D. The workshop brought together 65 middle and senior level executives from across various industry sectors including IT, Consulting, Banking and Insurance over a day long discussion on the art of leadership.

Akshaya Patra 'Zero to Billion' Conclave

The Bangalore-based Akshaya Patra Foundation, which runs the worlds largest NGO-run school meal program, hosted a national conclave titled Zero to Billion in 2008. 250 eminent CEOs and leaders from diverse sectors such as corporates, social institutions, philanthropy, art and culture, media and politics came together to celebrate the foundations success in reaching out to over 8,38,000 children and discuss issues that help in hunger eradication and enhance child education and attendance in schools. The theme of the conclave, Zero to Billion, reflected the need for communities, corporates and institutions to be equal partners in mutual cooperation and collaborate efforts for the development of Child Education. Justice Rajendra Babu, Former Chief justice of India, Justice M.N.Venketachaliah, Former Chief justice of India, Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, Chief Mentor and Chairman, Infosys, Mr T.V. Mohandas Pai, Chief Financial officer, Infosys and Gururaj Desh Deshpande, Chairman, Sycamore Networks were some of the eminent personalities at the conclave, held in partnership with Saltmarch Media.

Green Energy Projects

There is much to be done if we are to leave our planet in a fit state for those who come after us. Climate change and sustainability strategies, renewable, green and clean technologies are as important for our planet as was perhaps financial jurisprudence to the 2008 global economic slowdown. In true recognition of that belief, Saltmarch Media promotes economically sound, socially equitable and environmentally responsible progress.

Saltmarch will apportion part of the funds raised from the Green Energy Summit project as a base foundation for five practical and result-oriented projects in the areas of primary healthcare, SPV for drinking water, BIPV, IT Lights-Off Day, and other applications:

RElectrifying Rural: in conjunction with Govt. of Karnataka and industry sponsors, adopt a village in Karnataka and enable it with renewable energy, monitor the progress through a 'think tank' and report the success story at GES 2010. Sponsorships open.
IT Lights-off Day: an IT consortium working alongside the Govt. of Karnataka to announce 3rd March every year as the 'IT Lights-off Day". Consortium invites open.
Sustainability Monuments: in association with Govt. of Karnataka & industry sponsors, using bio-materials and waste, Solar LEDs, and Solar PV, Testimonies for future generations. Sponsorships open.
Imbibing Green Consciousness: among children through a sustained initiative culminating at the summit. Support Solicited.

The projects will be announced at the Green Energy Awards ceremony, to be held in conjunction with Green Energy Summit. A 'think tank' will monitor the progress of all projects and report success stories back to the summit stakeholders.
